Biden Poses with Leftist Actor Mark Hamill for Embarrassing “Star Wars Day” Video and Social Media Responses Are Savage (VIDEO)

Credit: @POTUS

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that far-left actor Mark Hamill made an appearance at the White House press briefing Friday to lavish Joe Biden with unwarranted praise. It also turns out that Biden invited the infamous “Star Wars” actor into the Oval Office for an embarrassing photo-op to mark the day fans celebrate the sci-fi saga.

Hamill has been one of Hollywood’s most vocal supporters of Biden despite the White House occupant having an approval rating hovering below 40% while regularly bashing President Trump on social media.

In a video posted on Biden’s White House X account, the elderly Biden stares into the camera and says, “May the 4th be with you,” before Hamill appears to complete the lame clip.

“Always!” Hamill replies in a deep voice.

The portrait of Franklin D. Roosevelt is seen hanging on the Oval Office wall while both Biden and Hamill embarrass themselves.

This is not the first time Hamill has humiliated himself on Biden’s behalf, either. As the Hollywood Reporter notes, he appeared in an ad for the Biden-Harris campaign toward the end of the 2020 Presidential campaign where he engaged in fear-mongering over what would happen in a Trump second-term.

Hamill specifically cited Trump’s warning of a rigged election, opposition to Obamacare, and “climate change” skepticism.

Chicago Teacher Union Wants Pay Hikes, Lower Standards, Abortions, LGBT Training and Migrant Accomodation in Latest $50B Demand

Stacy Gates-Davis, President of the Chicago Teachers Union

The Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) has many demands in their latest salvo in negotiating a new contract with the public schools system.

While the union’s demands have not been made public, Fox News reports a leaked document “sheds light on the eye-popping demands.”

The $50 billion they are asking for includes a 9% wage hike, fully paid abortions for its members, new migrant services and facilities, and a myriad of LGBT-related requirements.

According to Fox News, the total base tax receipts for the state of Illinois last year were $50.7 billion.

The excessive demands come despite Chicago public schools failing their students, and academic rigor in Illinois continues to slip lower and lower.

A recent Illinois State Board of Education report card is dreadful.

In 30 schools in Illinois, not a single student can read at grade level, 22 of which are in the City of Chicago.

In 53 schools, not a single student can do math at grade level, 33 of which are in  Chicago.

Maybe that is why Stacy Davis-Gates, President of the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) sends one of her children to a private Catholic high school in Chicago.

But let’s throw more money at a failing system.

Fox News reports:

The union’s demands have not been made public but a leaked document sheds light on the eye-popping demands.

Union President Stacy Davis Gates’ audacious plan calls for members to bank at least 9% wage increases each year through fiscal year 2028.

The average salary of a teacher in Chicago Public Schools is $93,182, according to research by the Illinois Policy Institute, a conservative nonprofit think tank. Therefore, the average teacher’s pay will increase by half to $144,620 in the 2027-2028 school year, it says.

That figure would equate to more than double the median household income in Chicago, according to Census Bureau statistics.

The demands include money to convert unused school facilities into housing for illegals and provide each migrant student with $2,000 to help with various services.

The contract also asks that all counselors, clinicians, social workers, and school psychologists are ‘queer competent’ and that they should be ‘trained annually on LGBTQ+ issues as a qualification of their job description.’

Each school must also have at least one gender-neutral bathroom.

All this while Chicago’s public pension system is in dire straits.

According to a report from Equable Institute, Chicago’s core public pensions, which include municipal, laborers, police, fire and the Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund, hold more debt than 44 states with a combined pension debt of nearly $48 billion.

GOP Governor Declares War on Lab-Grown Meat, Signs Law Making Distribution, Sale, Manufacture Illegal

Some Americans are merely disgusted by the idea of lab-grown meats, but many others are actually alarmed at the prospect of eating synthetic foods.

One state is now taking the lead by banning lab-grown meat from even being sold inside its borders.

Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed a bill that actually outlaws the sale of lab-grown meat in Florida making the Sunshine State the first to enact such a law.

DeSantis signed Senate Bill 1084 into law on May 1 during a visit to Wauchula, Florida.

Speaking at the Hardee County Cattleman’s Arena in Wauchula, DeSantis said that Florida stands with agriculture.

“In the State of Florida, we’ve put down the marker very clearly: We stand with agriculture,” DeSantis said, according to WTVT-TV. “We stand with the cattle ranchers. We stand with our farmers. Because we understand it’s important for the backbone of the state, it’s important for the culture, it’s important for our heritage.”

The new law makes several alterations to rules from the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services that now prohibits the manufacture, sale, holding or distribution of “cultivated meat” in Florida.

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner Wilton Simpson also celebrated the signing of SB 1084.

“Florida is making a tremendous step in the right direction by signing first-in-the-nation legislation banning lab-grown meat,” Simpson exclaimed. “Lab-grown meat is a disgraceful attempt to undermine our proud traditions and prosperity and is in direct opposition to authentic agriculture.”

“We must protect our incredible farmers and the integrity of American agriculture. Lab-grown meat is a disgraceful attempt to undermine our proud traditions and prosperity and is in direct opposition to authentic agriculture,” Simpson added, according to KXAN-TV.

One company that sells lab-created meat products said they were “disappointed” at the news and insisted, “We’re not going anywhere.”

“In a state that purportedly prides itself on being a land of freedom and individual liberty, its government is now telling consumers what meat they can or cannot purchase,” Good Meat said in an X post.

“The law is a setback for everyone: Floridians who deserve the right to eat whatever safe and approved meat they want; Florida’s technology sector, innovators and entrepreneurs; and all those working to stop the worst impacts of climate change,” the company added.

Some nutritionists have also sounded the alarm over products developed in labs over claims they lack essential nutrients.

Still, Florida is not the first jurisdiction to reject lab-grown meat products. In Europe, Italy has also turned against the products by banning lab-grown meats as a “health threat.”

Regardless, several large meat producers have begun investing large sums of money into the development of lab-grown food products.

And despite the wide-spread disgust many feel towards the whole idea of synthetic meat, many elites — including Bill Gates — are pushing world leaders to reduce animal-based food production and replace it with artificial products such as lab-grown meats.

President Trump Discusses Potential VP Candidates, Mocks Fani Willis, and Calls Jack Smith a “F**king A**Hole” During Fiery Mar-A-Lago Speech

President Trump went off on his enemies colorfully and discussed potential VP picks during a fiery speech at the Mar-A-Lago Saturday afternoon.

As the Daily Mail reported, Trump hosted around 400 donors and lawmakers for a $ 40,000-a-head fundraising lunch at his home. NBC News notes this luncheon was part of the Republican National Committee’s spring retreat.

Trump slammed Special Counsel Jack Smith as a “f**king a**hole” for trying to throw him in prison for speech crimes.

He then went on to blast Smith as an “evil thug” and “deranged.”

He also brutally mocked Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis as a “real beauty” and “Mrs. Wade” during his speech. The latter is particularly biting because of her notorious and corrupt affair with former Fulton County special prosecutor Nathan Wade.

Trump also compared the Biden regime to Nazi Germany, accusing them of running a “Gestapo administration.”

However, the 45th President was not content to slam his political opponents. He also took time to tease who might select as his running mate.

NBC notes that several potential GOP vice presidential candidates are in attendance for the retreat. These include South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Florida Rep. Byron Donalds, and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem.

“I’ve got 50 people calling me, begging me, ‘I’ll cut off my right arm, sir,'” Trump said. “‘ Please, I want to be the vice president.'”

Trump gave a shoutout to Stefanik, who fiercely defended him during his impeachment trials and completely destroyed woke Ivy League presidents over their handling of anti-Semitism on their campuses.

“Everybody said she’s going to be the vice-presidential candidate,” Trump teased.

Trump previously described Stefanik as a “real killer” during a Mar-A-Lago dinner back in January.

But the 45th President also praised several other rumored candidates. He described former presidential “rival” Scott as “one of the greatest surrogates” and called Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) “incredible.”

He also had kind words for Burgum, another former “rival” during the GOP Presidential primary, calling him “really impressive.” Trump went on to praise Rubio as a “talented guy.”

Trump also offered to let donors come up on the stage if they donated $1 million on the spot. Two donors took Trump up on his offer, and one told the crowd, ‘Donald J Trump is the person that God has chosen.’

On Saturday night, comedian Katt Williams performed his “Woke Folk” set live on Netflix.

Williams’ take on the FBI’s non-investigation into a bag of cocaine found inside the White House, was hilarious.

Showing a giant photo of a baggie labeled ‘Hunter’s Blow,  Williams launched his take.

“The truth is crazy enough, you ain’t got to make up no sh**. I’m gonna say something to you that sounds like a m’fer made it up…and it’s really in the news.”

“The FBI, OUR FBI, The Federal Bureau of Investigation, said they don’t know whose cocaine was at the White House….whaaaat?”

“What type of investigation did you do?! I don’t know what the fu** is going on. ‘We don’t know whose it is.’ It was in Hunter Biden’s room. It said ‘Hunter’s Blow’ on the bag.”

“What do you mean whose cocaine? It’s crazy.”

“Hunter on crack….Joe is doing the best he m’fing can…we done lowered the bar so low for Joe, as long as Joe don’t fall, we’ll be fine….’go on and get up them stairs, Joe..there you go, that’s a boy.'”

“Hunter on crack…Joe asleep. The only person really working at the White House behind the scenes is Joe Biden’s German Shepherd named Commander.”

He then showed a photo of Biden with his dog while pointing out the many times Commander has bitten Secret Service agents at the White House.

Human Trafficking Evidence in Chicago Migrant Facility

Guest post by Paul Dabrik

Photo from a Chicago migrant shelter

Terry Newsome of Behind Enemy Lines podcast has been covering the ever-expanding issue of illegal immigration in the city of Chicago. The sanctuary city crisis has become a burden too heavy for the blue states to carry. In recent months, Chicago citizens have flooded city council meetings lambasting the Johnson administration for continually catering to the illegal immigrant population while housing them in facilities across the city. As the Gateway Pundit reported in March, migrant facilities in Chicago appear to be hot spots for imported crime of myriad sorts.

Illinois taxpayers are on the hook for everything from transportation, to food, shelter, phones, and childcare. The multiple modern ghettos that pose as migrant facilities have put an undue burden on both the emergency responders and the Cook County taxpayer. So much so that Mayor Brandon Johnson has recently asked the Chicago City Council for an additional $70 million to manage the illegal immigration crisis. This is on top of the $300 million already spent to sustain the crisis.

The irony is that Chicago faces record crime and violence in recent years due to the Illinois Safe-T act passed in 2022. The Act puts violent criminals back on the street through cashless bail. As Newsome covered in January, the homeless are left to freeze in the sub-zero temperatures of Chicago while migrants are housed, fed, and cared for on the taxpayer dime. The juxtaposition of increasing crime and cost of living with the uncapped spending on illegals has stressed the political tension to a breaking point. Recently an African American voter chastised the City Council while wearing a MAGA hat. The concerned citizen observed that previous funds going to illegal immigrants came from an opiate settlement fund. The harrowing story of a mother who lost her child from a stray bullet, and turning to opiates for solace is not out of the ordinary in Chicago.

It would seem that the situation in Chicago could not be more chaotic. However, the Freedom of Information Act is always bearing fruit. As previously mentioned, a FOIA to the Chicago Police Department in March for the period between January 2023 and February 2024 showed multiple criminal referrals from the Inn of Chicago migrant facility. Crimes such as assault, burglary, robbery, sexual assault, child abuse, child abduction, and endangering a child were exposed. Terry Newsome’s latest FOIA request regarding the migrant facility in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago has brought forth more troubling revelations.

Many similar criminal offenses were found at the Pilsen migrant facility, however it was a non-criminal report that is most concerning. Event number 2405108322 details the case of a lost phone. When examined, the phone showed recognizable evidence of human trafficking via WhatsApp messaging. The report also details a curious description of the phone itself. The phone is described as  “1 Black Vortex Cellphone.” The model number is listed as “Vortex.” Interestingly, there is a company called Vortex Cellular. More interestingly Vortex Cellular has a government issued phone initiative. A recent LinkedIn article notes, “In this era, getting a phone for free has become possible, especially if you qualify for government assistance programs.” The article goes on to say that the phones are, “… funded by the government and facilitated by various wireless service providers.”

Andrew Breitbart Told Us Over a Decade Ago: Leftist Organizations Morph into New Groups with the Same Purposes, “To Put Conservatives and People in Flyover Country On the Defensive” (Video)

SDS, ANSWER, MoveOn, Code Pink, Occupy Wall Street, Black Lives Matter, anti-Israel encampments….the names may change over the years, but the puppet masters, funders, tactics, and goals remain the same.

The great Andrew Breitbart told a CPAC crowd in 2012 how these organizations morph over the years.

“The community organizing that crafted the anti-war movement for the purpose, the sole purpose, of getting Barrack Obama and progressives elected, which disappeared and did not hold the anti-war president to task for maintaining ‘George Bush’s wars’ is the exact same organism that created the Occupy movement in order to defend this president and to get progressive officials elected.”

“It is not the story you will see on ABC, CBS and NBC…they try to act as if this is organic. It’s organic the way the anti-war movement was….the exact same people, many of whom want to overthrow this government.”

Watch:

He also detailed a telling conversation with Bernadine Dohrn at a dinner she hosted with her equally radical husband, former unrepentant Weather Underground terrorist leader Bill Ayers, where she confirmed the left’s tactics.

Breitbart asked Dohrn, “If you care so much about protesting the war, why don’t you protest the war when Barrack Obama is president? Whatever happened to the anti-war president?”

“And this has always been my thesis on Occupy…Bernadine Dohrn said, ‘Well, the anti-war movement is more or less the Occupy movement.'”

“And that is the untold story of Occupy…it is the organized left of which Bernadine and Bill are a central component and community organizers, and they transformed for cynical political purposes, the anti-war into the Occupy movement with the same purposes….to put conservatives and people in flyover country, and the good and decent in this country on the defensive.”

“And it works with the aiding and abetting of the American mainstream media.”

Watch:

The only thing that has changed since Breitbart’s prophetic words is the name the professional America-hating bagmen for Democrats call themselves.

One of Columbia University’s “Professional Agitators” is Heir to a Fortune Living in $3.5 Million Brooklyn Home

James Carlson/Image: @HANKonX/X

When NYPD began arresting protestors at Columbia University, it confirmed what anyone with eyes knows.

College campus protests are being infiltrated by outside forces and supported by professional agitators.

One such alleged professional agitator is James Carlson, who was arrested inside Columbia University’s Hamilton Hall and has no affiliation with the University.

A group stormed the building while smashing windows and fortifying their position by barricading doors and covering windows, effectively taking control of the academic building.

A Columbia facilities worker recounted the harrowing experience of being held against his will by the protesters. “They held me hostage,” the worker disclosed to the Columbia Spectator after being released.

They’re stacking objects on both sides of the doors at Hamilton Hall of Columbia University in order to force controlled entrances and exits.

This is highly illegal and dangerous if people needed to escape in a hurry.

Police need to shut this down now.pic.twitter.com/RUc9AgkZ1S

— Paul A. Szypula (@Bubblebathgirl) April 30, 2024

When Carlson was arrested inside the building, he was already under investigation for grabbing an Israeli flag from a man near campus and setting it on fire in April.

But who is Carlson? He is the privileged son of a millionaire with a long history of violent protests.

And while Carlson “fights the man,” and rages against capitalism, which he can afford to do since it has benefitted him and his family, he goes home each night to his lavish $3.4 million Brooklyn brownstone property.

Another “shocker?” America haters stick together.  Carlson’s stepmother is reportedly romantically linked to vocal leftist singer John Cougar Mellencamp.

The New York Post reports:

Carlson is a rabble rouser and an attorney by trade, according to sources.

He is being looked at as a “possible leader” of the anti-Israel protesters who broke into Columbia University’s Hamilton Hall Tuesday night and barricaded themselves inside, a City Hall source said.

Emergency Services Unit cops used a military-style truck to get inside and arrest the rioters, including Carlson, early Wednesday morning.

He was charged with burglary, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, conspiracy and criminal trespassing.

“I observed the defendant inside the location with several other individuals,” a police officer wrote in the arrest report. “I did observe doors with shattered windows, doors off hinges, broken desks and exits blockaded by piled-up chairs.”

NEW: James Carlson, one of the primary agitators in the recent Columbia’s riots, turns out to be a millionaire’s heir with a long history of violent protests.

THE PEOPLE’S AUDIT: Save Millions in Taxpayer Money + Secure Elections??

#image_title

Reprinted with permission by Joe Hoft and People’s Audit.

Whenever you talk to government officials about improving election security, they tend to complain about the “lack of resources”.

Well, I made a business out of eliminating waste and fraud along with scaling organizations. I believe you can always find ways to improve processes. With constant improvements in technology, it is just a matter of leveraging the latest proven technology to make things simpler and reduce costly errors with better monitoring of the transactions.

Along with better monitoring of those processes, you typically find some bad apples that need to be tossed because they refuse to stop wasting money or worse, get caught stealing it.

Every one of our business endeavors typically was self-funded in less than 3 months and it was a win-win because the waste we eliminated resulted in FAR MORE MONEY in the pockets of our shareholders than they ever had to pay to us for eliminating it.

Also, the employees of those same companies learned to love us because once they got over the habitual fear of change, we showed them how easy we could make their jobs by eliminating problems caused by recurring issues.

So how does that relate to elections?

Well, here is my Lake County, Florida Supervisor Election and former Florida Senator, Alan Hays proudly standing next to a baker’s rack full of undelivered voter information cards back in June 2022.

We know there were exactly 27,774 pieces of undelivered voter information cards in that rack because the Ladys of Lake County Election Team scanned every one of them. All the while Mr. Hays removed the chairs from the room so they couldn’t even rest while feeding them through the scanner.

I wish I could say he is a model public servant, but he has a nasty habit of blowing his top and yelling at you if you ask him questions.

So let’s say conservatively, the county paid $3 to print and postage each one of those voter information cards. That is $83,322 of Lake County taxpayer money this dentist-turned-mail-in election expert hauled off to the dump.

Was that one of the reasons why Hays got $195,000 in Zuckerbucks in 2020?

Share

Keep in mind. This was just one mailing and I’m not considering storage, handling, transportation, and shredding of this mail because that all depends on your local rates. I do hope they securely dispose of these since they could be used to steal votes. But he told us he wasn’t going to look at them till after the 2 election cycles (Aug 2022 Primary & Nov 2022 General) were complete.

We counted about 572 primary voters who were somehow still able to vote by mail in the Aug 2022 Primary while their voter information card sat in that rack as undeliverable.

Think there may be a problem with waste and potential fraud here?

As for mail-in ballots, you could conservatively estimate $5-$10 per mail-in ballot if you consider the special paper, folding, and stuffing into envelopes.

But it’s a good thing Leon County’s Supervisor of Election, Mark Early is married to Stacey Early who heads the elections division of Cathedral Printing in Orlando. Catherdral, a New York-based company whose CEO was a monthly contributor to ACT BLUE, purchased Fidlar Elections in 2017. Do you think Earley gets us all a FAMILY DISCOUNT on the 2/3 of the state’s mail-in ballots that are printed at Cathedral?

You would think when Mark Early was president of the Florida Supervisors of Election, Inc. he would be promoting best practices on dealing with bulk mail since his wife is a long-time expert on the topic. I would have no problem with nepotism if she were training other countries on these best practices because large printers are typically experts on them.

That is because major print companies must follow USPS CASS (Coding Accuracy Support System) processes to qualify to send bulk mail.

In late September 2022, less than 2 months before the November General Election, The People’s Audit found about 100,000 undeliverable voters requesting mail-in ballots in that election. It was probably even higher than this number because this was just days before Hurricane Ian flattened and flooded parts of Florida.

Printers know which voter is undeliverable using the same type of software that we use. It works with the US Post Office to determine if the address is deliverable or not. It also corrects and correctly formats the address and most recognizably adds an extra 4 digits to the zip code.

If you ever bought anything online you probably saw a step asking you to confirm your address. This is the CASS Verification step most online retailers and Internet companies do. Here is an example from Google.

The software the printers use also has the capability of doing NCOA (National Change of Address) checks because the Post Office requires you to do these checks on your mail lists every 90 days to qualify for discount postage.

But in the printer’s contracts that we looked at in multiple counties, the printer will state that if the address cannot be verified, they will just print the address as is and cannot guarantee it will be delivered.

But the one thing you can guarantee is the printer still charges the counties to check that address along with printing the item and applying postage to it. EVERY TIME THEY ARE ASKED TO BULK PRINT ANYTHING FROM THE ELECTION OFFICES.

So let’s go with a conservative estimate of $5 per mail-in ballot time for 100,000 requests that were showing to be undeliverable. That is about $500,000 that the printers still charged the state. Our election officials then haul around the bakers’ racks continuing the cycle of waste each election cycle. I wonder if the election officials get any donations from the printers to keep business as usual running.

On top of all this waste, there is a return service fee charged by the US Post Office on every piece of returned mail.

Strangely, when you try to reconcile what the USPS charges the county for being undeliverable vs what the county records as undeliverable, it never seems to balance. Wherever we looked, the USPS seems to be charging for more items than the election offices are recording as undeliverable.

Is it because some ballots get harvested and counted in the elections or is the county office staff poor at manually reviewing all those envelopes and properly recording them?

Something does not add up here.

Share Jurski’s Journal

How can we do better?

First and foremost, local election offices MUST adopt the same practices that companies use when dealing with bulk mail.

I AM NOT PROMOTING MAIL-IN BALLOT VOTING!

I still think mail-in voting is prone to fraud, but those election offices still need to mail out voter information cards, sample ballots, and notices along with keeping our voter rolls clean.

In my +20 years of building systems that clean organizational data, fixing addresses not only saves a tremendous amount of money that would otherwise get wasted, it also gives you more accurate ways to compare your data to other systems.

For instance, the people who are stored in the NCOA database are stored in CASS format.

If you have an address like “123 Main Street, Fort Lauderdale, Florida” in your database, even though a human may see it is the same address, A COMPUTER WILL NOT MATCH the CASS formatted address which is: “123 MAIN ST, FT LAUDERDALE, FL.” Unless you tell a computer to ignore the case of the letter, it might not match just for being in a different case. That is why CASS CAPITALIZES the address. This makes it faster for the mail scanners to read them if they are all uniform and standardized.

So to reiterate, standardize your address for better matching:

  • 123 Main Street, Fort Lauderdale, Florida = BAD!
  • 123 MAIN ST, FT LAUDERDALE, FL = GOOD!

If all your addresses are in CASS Format, the record matches with address changes, deaths, and felony charges will match more accurately.

So this small change will domino out into multiple areas. How do I know this? The reality is anyone who does anything with addresses in business and online retail knows this and has been doing this for nearly 20 years.

That is why it was so shocking to me to see election officials promoting mail-in ballots without even understanding the basics of mail. This is Fortune 500 standard practice in the private sector.

In the bulk printing industry, this knowledge would be the equivalent of a plumber knowing how to use a plunger to unplug a toilet. But you also don’t have to be a rocket scientist to see how the waste allows for mail ballots to be stolen as well as a LOT OF TAXPAYER MONEY to be spread across multiple government agencies and vendors.

When we started with the Nov 2020 voter rolls, Florida had 694,187 Active Registrations with both of their addresses UAA (Undeliverable As Addressed). Or unreachable by mail because both their residential and mail addresses were bad.

Fast forward to today, and with the grassroots efforts in Florida using The People’s Audit, we cut that number in half to 356,548 Active UAA Voters.

So just think about how much Florida is now saving with this reduced amount of undeliverable mail throughout the state. If we go back to that voter card example and $3 per mail piece, that is over 1 MILLION DOLLARS PER MAILING!

Share

But wait…there’s more…

ERIC is now irrelevant. Why do we need to share our data with 3rd party left-leaning vendors when the election offices could easily check NCOA (National Change Of Address) in-house because all their addresses are already stored in the correct CASS format?

If the locals simply store the addresses using US Post Office CASS standards, they can easily acquire the same software they are currently paying the printers to charge them to use for EVERY SINGLE MASS MAILING.

That postal software requires you to do an automatic NCOA check every 90 days to qualify for discount postage. So the election offices would also know who has moved without the need for ERIC.

Also, this same software allows you to generate tracking IMB bar codes that will track that individual piece of mail to see if it is delivered or not..MOST IMPORTANTLY RECEIVE AN ELECTRONIC NOTIFICATION WHEN IT DOES OR DOES NOT ARRIVE!

The USPS discontinued the previous system in which these bar codes we optional on some mail in late 2023 and now ALL MAIL is being tracked with these IMB codes. So either we are having our elections office use them directly OR we are paying the 3rd parties to apply them to every mailing.

Why on earth are we also paying 3rd part left-leaning organizations to do our mail ballot tracking when this can all be done SECURELY within our county election offices?

And why are they wasting resources manually documenting returned mail MONTHS AFTER AN ELECTION HAPPENS? The election notification on returned mail would come back during the mail ballot stage weeks before the election and could immediately VOID THAT BALLOT so it can’t be harvested.

After reading this I hope you understand how wasteful and frankly unprofessional what elections officials are currently doing.

So in summary, what can local election offices do?

  • Stop printing, mailing, storing, and hauling undeliverable mail
  • Stop paying the printers to check and format addresses on EVERY MAILING!
  • Get rid of ERIC
  • Qualify for discounted postage
  • Get rid of all 3rd party ballot tracking software. This can be done DIRECTLY through the USPS Mail system as postage is being applied. TRACING IS NOW INCLUDED.
  • Work with USPS Professionals to bring this all into the security of your elections offices.
  • SECURE ALL ELECTION MAIL!

NO EXCUSES! Not only does this save taxpayers MILLIONS OF DOLLARS ANNUALLY, but it also cleans our voter rolls and secures our election mail.

And there should also be enough left over to pay your staff more and hire some cybersecurity experts at the state and local levels.

Bidenomics Is Killing the American Dream of Owning Your Own Home Nationwide – Study

Joe Biden’s economy is having a serious negative impact all across the country and as prices on everything we need skyrocket, the dream of owning a home is slipping away.

A new study, for instance, finds that it is now cheaper to rent than it is to buy a home in the country’s 50 largest metro areas. And this is putting serious pressure on home builders and sales.

It is more cost effective to rent a place to live than to own a home, Bankrate said in a report it published at the end of April.

While the cost of rent soared over the last few years, the cost of buying and owning a home has not only caught up to that rise in rent but has eclipsed it as mortgage rates have begun rising and low home inventory have created higher prices, the report adds.

The personal finance resources company notes that owning a home now costs nearly 37 percent more than renting.

It was already so bad last year that Americans had to earn a record high annual income to be able to afford a home, as The Western Journal reported in October, but in the last year that problem has worsened.

Despite all this, 78 percent of Americans still feel that owning their own home is an integral part of the American dream, and they would like to be homeowners.

But a large number, 56 percent, also told the company that their income prevents them from fulfilling that dream, while 42 percent said home prices are too high.

Bankrate’s analysis found that in 50 metros, a mortgage for a median-priced home worth just over $400,000 costs $2,703 a month whereas rent only costs $1,979. That is a huge 36.6 percent difference.

Even worse, in 21 of those metro areas, the cost of a monthly mortgage is 50 percent higher than renting.

“Purchasing a home is a long-term commitment. Home price appreciation has slowed considerably and costs have risen dramatically since the days of 3 percent mortgage rates, so it’s going to take more time to break even on a purchase compared to renting.,” said Zillow chief economist Skylar Olsen.

It seems unlikely any of the elites at the World Economic Forum will shed a tear for the destruction of wealth this trend represents. For many families, a home is the largest investment they will make. Additionally, having the realistic potential of owning real property like a home is a cornerstone of a free society. It’s almost certain the WEF will be quite happy that Americans can’t afford the luxuries of investments and property.

That organization recently posted a video containing its “8 predictions for 2030” in which it noted that one of its top goals is to make sure the lowly common man will “own nothing” and will “be happy” about it.

The elites want to tear down the American dream, of course. The lofty ideas of ownership and controlling one’s own destiny is an impediment to their power grabbing and their authoritarian desires to rule over us all.

FLASHBACK: Lefties Frowned As America Cheered bin Laden’s Demise

Thirteen years ago, nearly all Americans were united in celebrating the death of Osama bin Laden, the terrorist leader behind the 9/11 attacks in 2001. Yet one group stood on the sidelines and scowled: the Sourpuss Left, which fretted the “mindless jubilation” and “jingoistic hubris” of those cheering the elimination of the evil al Qaeda leader, an avowed enemy who had ordered the deaths of thousands of innocent people. “It felt a little crazy, a bit much. Almost vulgar,” one Washington Post columnist huffed about the late night crowds celebrating outside the White House gates on May 1, 2011. “I think that this kind of jumping up and down, chanting ‘USA, USA,’ send a message of almost, sort of, blood lust,” another commentator mourned on PBS that week. There was also the morally-inverted griping that Big Bad America was worse than al Qaeda. “This was not justice,” fumed journalist Allan Nairn on Democracy Now. “This was one killer killing another — a big killer, the United States government, killing another, someone who’s actually a smaller one, bin Laden.” Mainstream liberal journalists avoided such hateful nonsense, instead touting the “heroics” of President Barack Obama, as if he had actually participated in the dangerous military operation. “Professor Obama turned into General Obama and ran this incredible, incredible raid,” gushed Bloomberg’s Margaret Carlson. “That took a lot of guts, the kind of thing you do see in a Hollywood movie.” To his credit, however, Obama didn’t listen to his then-Vice President. “Mr. President, my suggestion is: Don’t go. We have to do two more things to see if he’s there,” Joe Biden counseled his boss, as he himself related in a speech to House Democrats the following year. (Video here.) Thirteen years later, Biden’s “don’t go” advice seems as terrible as ever (especially now that he’s handed Afghanistan back to the abhorrent Taliban), while the anti-American Left has moved on to condemning Israel’s necessary fight against similarly implacable and deadly terrorist enemy. Here’s a rundown of the worst quotes from that week, when (nearly) every citizen recognized and celebrated an American victory in the War on Terror: ■ “Some Americans celebrated the killing of Osama bin Laden loudly, with chanting and frat-party revelry in the streets. Others were appalled — not by the killing, but by the celebrations.... ‘The worst kind of jingoistic hubris,’ a University of Virginia student wrote in the college newspaper, The Cavalier Daily. In blogs and online forums, some people asked: Doesn’t taking revenge and glorying in it make us look just like the terrorists?”— New York Times reporter Benedict Carey in a May 6, 2011 news story, “Celebrating a Death: Ugly, Maybe, but Only Human.” ■ “It is just and necessary that this evil man was finally punished for the mass murders he engineered on September 11, 2001. But I am repelled by the scenes of mindless jubilation, from Times Square to the park in front of the White House, that erupted after President Obama delivered the news in a properly sober tone Sunday night.”— The Washington Post’s “Spirited Atheist” blogger Susan Jacoby in a May 2, 2011 posting. ■ “At the news of Osama bin Laden’s death, thousands of people — most of them college-aged and in requisite flip-floppy collegiate gear — whipped up a raucous celebration right outside the White House gates that was one part Mardi Gras and two parts Bon Jovi concert....It felt a little crazy, a bit much. Almost vulgar....When I saw that folks were celebrating in the streets at the news of bin Laden’s death, my first reaction was a cringe. Remember how we all felt watching videos of those al-Qaeda guys dancing on Sept. 11?”— Washington Post “Metro” section columnist Petula Dvorak, May 3, 2011. ■ “It’s idiotic to treat these kinds of international events like sporting events, like it’s the World Cup that we’re cheering for here....I think that this kind of jumping up and down, chanting ‘USA, USA,’ sends a message of almost sort of blood lust. I think we need to be really careful about that.”— Correspondent Jeremy Scahill of the left-wing The Nation magazine, on PBS’s Tavis Smiley, May 2. ■ “When you watch these people celebrating, how does it make us any better than those in the Mid East who celebrate when America falls?”— ABC News religion correspondent Father Edward Beck on FNC’s The O’Reilly Factor, May 3, 2011. ■ “People cheer because they thought they saw justice, but this was not justice....This was one killer killing another — a big killer, the United States government, killing another, someone who’s actually a smaller one, bin Laden....We have to stop these people, these powerful people like Obama, like Bush, like those who run the Pentagon, and who think it’s OK to take civilian life.”— Journalist Allan Nairn on the far-left Democracy Now radio program, May 2, 2011. ■ “I’m glad he’s gone. But I just feel something has — we’ve lost something of our soul here in this country. And maybe I’m just an old school American who believes in our American judicial system.... [Snarls] ‘What do we need a trial for, just get rid of him.’ The second you say that, you’re saying that you hate being an American. You hate what we stand for, you hate what our Constitution stands for.”— Left-wing filmmaker Michael Moore on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight, May 5, 2011. ■ “So when does SEAL Unit 6, or whatever it’s called, drop in on George Bush? Bush was responsible for a lot more death, innocent death, than bin Laden.”— Left-wing radio host and former CNN producer Mike Malloy on The Mike Malloy Show, May 2, 2011. Breaking: Grassroots Revolution Overthrows RINOs at Missouri State GOP Convention

Guest post by Joe Hoft at JoeHoft.com – republished with permission

On Saturday in Springfield, Missouri, conservatives took back the Republican Party.

Like many other states, Missouri’s America First citizens don’t have a voice in their government. Although they are the super majority in the state, they are not being heard, and what they want for their state is not happening. Even though the GOP runs the state with a huge majority, key conservative policies and beliefs are pushed aside.

Leading up to the event, platform amendments were passed at county and district caucuses to be reviewed by the platform committee and implemented at the convention. The draft presented by the GOP completely ignored every amendment passed and watered down the current version of the platform.

Because of the disenfranchisement of the conservative base in Missouri, the grassroots rose up against the RINOs at the convention.  They planned to unseat every RINO, swap the RINO agenda with an America First agenda, and force a revised platform to be voted on.

When the convention began, the effort to bring MAGA back to Missouri started. The RINOs in the party were shocked and spent the next three hours talking about all sorts of nothing while they tried to figure out ways that they could overcome the conservative coup.

Let the shenanigans begin. These stalling tactics aren’t going to work. Let’s get this show on the road #MOGOP #mograssrootstrong pic.twitter.com/BOv40Yw1GG

The stalling from the GOP RINOs went on for three hours as they tried to figure out how to overcome the grassroot majority’s effort to take back the party.

Eventually, Sophia Shore was voted in as the GOP Chairwoman of the convention. This was a win and the beginning of the grassroots efforts in taking back their party.

— Kristen Haftrak (@Kristen_Haftrak) May 4, 2024

GOP conservatives cheered when the grassroots supported GOP Chairwoman was elected to her new role instead of a RINO.

What an incredible day for Missouri Grassroots and bad day for the establishment. This is what a grassroot revolution looks like. We flipped the chair, committeeman/woman, the slate, and we voted down the RINO platform draft. #letsgomo #mograssrootstrong #grassrootrevolution pic.twitter.com/xHAZ47Yp0J

Elon Musk Now Fully Awake on Election Integrity, Promotes Non-Profit Urging Whistleblowers to Come Forward

By: Ben Kew

Business titan Elon Musk is now seemingly fully awake on the issue of election fraud and is urging whistleblowers to come forward to report irregularities ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

On Saturday, Musk retweeted a video from the Fair Election Fund to his 182 million followers, attracting some 1.6 million viewers at the time of writing.

The newly formed non-profit organization is seeking to compensate whistleblowers for exposing Democratic attempts to steal and subvert America’s electoral process.

If you are an election worker, organizer, or concerned citizen who has seen corruption in our elections firsthand, we want to hear your story.

Those who report fraud or abuse are eligible for payment from our $5 million fund. pic.twitter.com/JBKdj8uzbp

— Fair Election Fund (@FairElectFund) May 4, 2024

The ad states:

Free and fair elections are the bedrock of our American experiment. It is part of our core. But we can only have confidence in the result if there is trust in the process. Across the country, there are real cases of fraud and abuses of the system that have eroded our trust. From executive orders opening the door to non-citizens voting, while some cities look to make it commonplace. Unions rigging the game through unethical ballot harvesting. And some leaders are outright refusing to follow the law when administering elections.

This is happening in plain sight. But those in power look the other way. They lie and dismiss and then demonize common sense steps to ensure our elections are free and fair. And they are still lying. That is where the Fair Election Fund comes in. We are making a major investment to compensate those who expose cheating in our elections.

If you have knowledges of abuses in the system, your story could be what helps preserve our democracy. If you are an election worker, organizer or concerned citizen who has witnessed this corruption first hand, we want to hear from you. Those who report fraud from our $5 million fund. With your help, we’ll shine a light on the corruption and stop it. This is how we restore trust.

In a press release this week, the Fair Election Fund expanded on its plan to promote election integrity across the country following the fraud that took place in the 2020 and 2022 election cycles.

“The bulk of the group’s budget will be devoted to paying whistleblowers like election workers, organizers, and concerned citizens who have witnessed this corruption firsthand for sharing their stories,” the release read, according to Fox News.

“All claims will be vetted by Fair Election Fund’s team of experienced election law attorneys. The group will highlight these cases through aggressive paid and earned media campaigns, the first of which will begin immediately.”

Following the illegal protests the President of the St. Louis Board of Alderman was suspended from her position at the university where she brainwashes kids on how to hate America and take down the system.

Megan Green, president of the St. Louis Board of Alderman, was suspended from her teaching job at Washington University after she participated in an illegal protest on campus.

KMOV reported:

100 pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested over the weekend, as Washington University states it will pursue trespassing charges for those who remained on campus Saturday after being asked to leave; and it appears one prominent protester that was not arrested has been punished by the school.

St. Louis Board of Aldermen President Megan Green, who was not arrested, is an adjunct professor at the school but now says she’s being punished.

President Green was among the hundreds marching on campus. She told First Alert 4 she’s been put on administrative leave due to her presence on Saturday.

“It’s a very authoritarian, heavy-handed response,” said Green.

Green said she is now barred from the Washington University campus, as she says six other faculty members were put on administrative leave due to their presence on Saturday.

“I was able to teach my class via Zoom,” said Green.

Exclusive Details: 30 US Marines and Navy Sailors Injured in Training Accident

At least 30 sailors and Marines were injured off the Atlantic coast of Jacksonville, Florida, Wednesday when two landing hovercrafts collided.

Landing Craft Air Cushions, or LCACs, from both the multipurpose amphibious assault ship USS Wasp and the transport dock vessel USS New York crashed into each other, according to a Navy announcement.

Sailors assigned to the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group and and Marines assigned to the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit were conducting a training exercise when the incident occurred, according to the report.

The Western Journal reached out to the U.S. Navy for an update on the incident.

Cmdr. Lara Bollinger, a Navy public information officer, said that “[b]oth LCACs involved remained afloat after the incident, and have since returned to their respective ships.”

Bollinger added that the collision “remains under investigation” and noted that the Navy will provide more information when it is available.

She said that all 30 injured personnel received medical care. “Most injuries were considered minor, and those personnel returned to full duty,” she added.

Five of the 30 servicemembers reportedly required advanced medical care and were airlifted to Savannah Memorial University Medical Center in Southern Georgia, with most having been released.

— OSINTdefender (@sentdefender) May 3, 2024

Bollinger said that “[o]f the five Sailors who were medically evacuated, one remains under medical care at a hospital in Savannah, Georgia. The others were treated and released to return to duty.”

“Our primary focus is on our Sailor’s health and well-being,” she added.

The vessels are currently at sea as part of the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group / Marine Expeditionary Unit 24 composite training unit exercise.

The Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC) is a high-speed, over-the-beach, amphibious landing hovercraft that is built to carry a payload of up to 75 tons, according to a Navy website.

They are used to transport the weapons systems, equipment, cargo and personnel from ship to shore and across the beach.

LCAC can carry even heavy equipment such as M-1 tanks at high speeds, which provides significant benefits, the Navy site reported.

“Air cushion technology allows this vehicle to reach more than 70 percent of the world’s coastline, while only about 15 percent of that coastline is accessible by conventional landing craft.”

44 Senators Call on Biden to Reject Two Totalitarian Agreements That Surrender U.S Sovereignty to WHO

World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus (Credit: Getty Images)

This May May 27–June 1, 2024, global elitists and world leaders from across the West will gather in Geneva, Switzerland, for the WHO’s 77th World Health Assembly (WHA).

Attendees from all 194 WHO member countries are set to vote on major amendments to the International Health Regulations that would effectively strip all power away from sovereign countries and turn it over to the WHO’s global health board in the event of a pandemic.

If the ratifications are agreed to this month, the WHO will also be granted sole authority over what constitutes a pandemic.

As we have seen over the past years, just about anything qualifies as an ‘existential threat to public health,’ including, but not limited to, misinformation, parents protesting at school boards, free speech, and—of course—racism. The fact that the WHO is on the cusp of unrestricted authority to decide these measures should terrify every American.

What’s more, the changes also include plans for a mandatory and universal vaccine passport system that’s overseen by the WHO. In fact, the globalist organization has already contracted a German-based company, called ‘T-Systems’, to develop the technology.

It can be recalled, “On 1 July 2023, the WHO took up the EU system of digital COVID-19 certification to establish a global system that will help protect citizens across the world from on-going and future health threats, including pandemics. This is the first building block of the WHO Global Digital Health Certification Network that will develop a system for global verification of health documents to deliver better health for all. The WHO will facilitate this process globally under its own structure with the first use-case being the convergence of digital COVID-19 certificates.”

From the joint WHO and T-Systems announcement:

“The World Health Organization (WHO) will make it easier for its member states to introduce digital vaccination certificates in the future. The WHO is setting up a gateway for this purpose. It enables QR codes on electronic vaccination certificates to be checked across national borders.

It is intended to serve as a standard procedure for other vaccinations such as polio or yellow fever after COVID-19. The WHO has selected T-Systems as an industry partner to develop the vaccination validation services.”

Aside from the fact that the WHO is an international, unelected, and unaccountable body with absolutely no concern for individual freedoms, the organization is led by Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who repeatedly pushed outright lies and crippling restrictions throughout the China virus pandemic.

Now, 44 Republican senators have sent a strongly worded letter to Joe Biden, urging him to reject two forthcoming international agreements under consideration at the World Health Organization (WHO) that would compromise U.S. sovereignty.

Sen. Ron Johnson wrote on X, “Two international agreements are being considered at this month’s World Health Assembly that surrenders U.S. sovereignty to the WHO. [Biden] should reject them, or at least submit any agreement to the Senate as a treaty. The entire Senate GOP conference has signed onto my letter to Biden demanding just that.”

In their collective statement, the senators criticized the WHO’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, calling it an absolute and predictable failure that caused significant harm to the country. They assert that the United States must demand comprehensive reforms within the WHO before considering any amendments to the International Health Regulations (IHR) or engaging in new treaty negotiations that would extend the organization’s authority.

The letter reads:

“Next month, during the Seventy-seventh World Health Assembly (WHA), your administration is expected to commit the United States to two international agreements that would strengthen the World Health Organization’s (WHO) authority to declare public health emergencies of international concern and expand the WHO’s authority over member states during such emergencies. This is unacceptable.

The WHO’s failure during the COVID-19 pandemic was as total as it was predictable and did lasting harm to our country. The United States cannot afford to ignore this latest WHO inability to perform its most basic function and must insist on comprehensive WHO reforms before even considering amendments to the International Health Regulations (IHR) or any new pandemic related treaty that would increase WIIO authority. We are deeply concerned that your administration continues to support these initiatives and strongly urge you to change course.

Article 55 of the IHR requires the text of any IHR amendment to be communicated to member states at least four months before the WHA at which they are to be considered. As the WHO has still not provided final amendment text to member states, we submit that IHR amendments may not be considered at next month’s WHA. Some of the over 300 proposals for amendments made by member states would substantially increase the WHO’s health emergency powers and constitute intolerable infringements upon U.S. sovereignty. As such, it was essential that the WHO abide by the four-month notice period to allow member states time to ensure that no traces of such proposals were included in a final amendment package for consideration by the WHA. Having failed to do so, amendments are not in order.

The WHO’s most recent publicly available draft of its new pandemic response treaty is dead on arrival. Instead of addressing the WHO’s well-documented shortcomings, the treaty focuses on mandated resource and technology transfers, shredding intellectual property rights, infringing free speech, and supercharging the WHO. Moving forward with a new pandemic preparedness and response treaty ignores the fact that we are still unsure of COVID-19’s origins because Beijing continues to block a legitimate independent investigation. We strongly urge you not to join any pandemic related treaty, convention, or agreement being considered at the Seventy-seventh WIIA. Should you ignore this advice, we state in the strongest possible terms that we consider any such agreement to be a treaty requiring the concurrence of two-thirds of the Senate under Article II Section 2 of the Constitution.

In light of the high stakes for our country and our constitutional duty, we call upon you to (1) withdraw your administration’s support for the current IHR amendments and pandemic treaty negotiations, (2) shift your administration’s focus to comprehensive WHO reforms that address its persistent failures without expanding its authority, and (3) should you ignore these calls, submit any pandemic related agreement to the Senate for its advice and consent.”

It is not just US. The Gateway Pundit previously reported that a significant demonstration took place in Japan’s Ikebukuro district last month, drawing attention to the World Health Organization’s (WHO) proposed Pandemic Treaty.

The treaty has sparked controversy and fear among citizens, leading to one of the largest protests in recent Japanese history, according to Aussie17, a former Big Pharma employee.

The march began in Higashi-Ikebukuro Central Park, where thousands of participants gathered with banners and chants expressing their opposition to the treaty and the WHO’s overreach, Yahoo reported.

Protesters voiced strong opposition to mandatory vaccinations and the potential infringement on Japan’s sovereignty. “We strongly protest against the WHO for forcing people to be vaccinated, ignoring Japan’s sovereignty where vaccines are voluntary,” declared one of the banners leading the march.

Here is the revised draft of the WHO’s Pandemic Treaty:

Exclusive: Top Attorney Thor Hearne Offers Analysis and a Prediction on the Supreme Court’s Decision on Trump vs. United States Presidential Immunity Case – Includes Scathing Rebuke of Special Counsel Jack Smith

As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, Former Attorney General John Ashcroft and the Constitutional Coalition filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court on the question of presidential immunity.

As we are all aware, this case concerns the issue of whether a subsequent president may criminally prosecute his (or her) predecessor and current political rival for official acts the previous president took while in office.

The Friend of the Court brief was filed back in early April to defend the constitutional principle that a President of the United States, as the Nation’s chief executive, must have immunity from criminal prosecution for those official acts the President takes. Otherwise, fear of a subsequent political rival bringing a criminal prosecution against the President will impair the President from making those decisions necessary in the President’s best judgment to protect our national interest and discharge the duties of the office of Chief Executive.

EXCLUSIVE: Former AG John Ashcroft and Constitutional Coalition File Brief with US Supreme Court on Presidential Immunity

How the Supreme Court decides this case will affect the Separation of Powers between the three branches of our government and will determine how future presidents fulfill their duty as Chief Executive. The brief provides a historical context for the Supreme Court to consider. It is not hyperbole to suggest that the United States v. Trump case is of a constitutional magnitude equivalent to Chief Justice John Marshall’s decision for the Court in Marbury v. Madison.

The oral argument in the United States Supreme Court took place on April 25th. A decision is expected before Independence Day.

Attorney Thor Hearne, outside counsel for the Constitutional Coalition, provided an analysis of the Trump vs. United States oral arguments. This was a blistering rebuke of the Biden administration's ham-handed defense of their actions to take down their political opposition in the upcoming election.

Via Attorney Thor Hearne:

Every Justice understood that the Supreme Court is deciding a landmark case that transcends the immediate issue of President Trump and the 2024 presidential election.

Given this, I was somewhat surprised by the quality of Special Counsel Jack Smith’s work. During my thirtyyear career I have had opportunity to argue before the Supreme Court and I have represented hundreds of amici parties, including the leadership of the United States House and Senate in matters before the Court. In most Supreme Court cases the Solicitor General represents the United States. Irrespective of whether it be the Clinton, Bush, Obama, Trump, or Biden Administration, I have found that the written briefs and argument by the Solicitor General and the counsel in the Solicitor General’s office is of a very high quality. The Solicitor General has its own Style Manual for Supreme Court briefs. Given this, I was surprised when I read Jack Smith’s briefs that were not of the high quality the Solicitor General normally writes.

I did not find that quality of the briefs Jack Smith filed, nor the argument Mike Dreeben made, to be on par with what the Solicitor General customarily presents in cases before the Supreme Court. I found this surprising, but then I noticed that the briefs filed in the Supreme Court were not by the Solicitor General’s office but were an in-house product of Jack Smith’s “Special Counsel” team. I anticipated that when this case of such importance was argued in the Supreme Court, the Solicitor General’s office would direct the briefing and argument. But this was apparently not the case.

Attorney Hearne also offers his prediction for the case.

MY PREDICTION OF THE OUTCOME

Two of the more challenging intellectual tasks one can undertake are forecasting the path of a hurricane or predicting how the Supreme Court will rule. With that caution thrown to the winds, I offer my prediction.

I expect Chief Justice Roberts will author the majority opinion that overturns the D.C. Circuit’s categorical holding that the president has no immunity from criminal prosecution for any official act. I anticipate the Supreme Court will remand the case to the district court for a fuller record of what specific “official acts” (as opposed to “private acts”) are the basis of Jack Smith’s indictment. The remand will direct the district court to develop the specific facts and allegations underlying Jack Smith’s indictment.

Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Barrett did not seem inclined to favor a blanket rule that the president is absolutely immune from criminal prosecution for every official act the president takes while in office. Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Barrett seem inclined to develop a more limited doctrine of immunity addressing the distinction between “official acts” (directing a drone strike that killed American citizens) and “private acts” the president engages in pursuit of the president’s private interest. (Bill Clinton’s act with Monica Lewinski is not an “official act” even though President Clinton engaged in the act in the Oval Office, nor is President Clinton’s subsequent denial of inappropriate conduct at an official press conference held in the White House.)

Justices Kavanaugh, Gorsuch and Alito appeared favorable to a broad rule recognizing presidential immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts. I anticipate they will join the Chief Justice and Justice Barrett’s opinion reversing the DC Circuit’s. Justices Alito, Kavanaugh, Gorsuch and Thomas also appeared to be sympathetic to the argument made in our amicus brief that bringing a criminal prosecution against the President for an official act requires that the President first be impeached and convicted by the House and Senate.

Justice Thomas (as he is wont to do) focused on the constitutional source of presidential immunity and wanted to have a fuller sense of the constitutional text and history underlying the immunity doctrine. Justice Thomas is a celebrated textualist and originalist who looks to the words of the Constitution (or a statute) that is the subject of the dispute so that the Court may faithfully interpret and apply the Constitution or statute as the drafters intended. This is similar to the philosophy the late Justice Scalia brought to the Court. I anticipate Justice Thomas will embrace the principal of presidential immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts. But I anticipate Justice Thomas will write a separate opinion explaining the historical context and constitutional text underlying this doctrine.

Poll from Pew Research: Catholic Voters Fleeing from Biden and Moving to Trump

According to a poll by the Pew Research Center, Biden is losing the Catholic vote.

The poll shares that if the election were held today, 55% of Catholic voters say they would vote for Donald Trump, or lean toward voting for him.

Only 43% say they support Biden.

A similar poll conducted by Pew before the 2020 election found that Catholics were almost evenly split between the two candidates, with 50% saying they’d support Trump and 49% reporting that they would vote for Biden.

Daily Caller News Foundation reports:

The shift toward Trump was most pronounced among Hispanic Catholics, according to Pew’s polling. Biden only leads Hispanic Catholics by two points in Pew’s most recent poll, within the margin of error, a significant drop off from the 32-point lead he enjoyed in Pew’s 2020 poll.

Hispanic voters on the whole have been moving toward the Republican Party, a trend that worries some liberals. The Biden campaign, for instance, is focusing on courting Latinos, and George Soros, an ally of the Democratic Party, has given tens of millions of dollars to left-of-center Latino advocacy groups.

Although Biden likes to boast about his Catholic faith, many of his actions in office go against some of the Church’s most sacred tenets, including his continued support of pro-abortion legislation.

At a rally in Tampa in April, an abortion promoter voiced complaints about Florida’s six-week limit for abortions, during which Biden turned his back on his faith and his God and made the sign of the cross.

Catholic Vote condemned his disgusting politicization of faith, calling the gesture vile.

He also insulted millions of Christians when he declared “Transgender Visibility Day,” which fell on Easter this year.

In a March appearance on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Wilton Cardinal Gregory, archbishop of the Archdiocese of Washington since 2019,  commented on Biden’s faith and tried to explain how he sees his Catholic faith.

“I would say that he’s very sincere about his faith. But like a number of Catholics, he picks and chooses dimensions of the faith to highlight while ignoring or even contradicting other parts. There is a phrase that we have used in the past, a ‘cafeteria Catholic’ — you choose that which is attractive and dismiss that which is challenging,” the Archbishop said.

Deported Terrorist Speaks to Hamas-Endorsed Encampment at University of Chicago

Deported terrorist Sami Al Arian was invited to speak to the Hamas-endorsed anti-Israel protesters at the University of Chicago.

Al Arian, a former University of South Florida professor, was indicted in February 2003 on 17 counts under the Patriot Act. A jury acquitted him on eight counts and deadlocked on the remaining nine counts. He later struck a plea bargain and admitted to one of the remaining charges in exchange for being released and deported. He was deported to Turkey on February 4, 2015.

Al-Arian was accused of aiding terrorists. In February 2003, he was charged with racketeering for Palestine Islamic Jihad (PIJ).

The Gateway Pundit reported that his wife, Nahla Al-Najar,  was pictured protesting at Columbia University campus.

UChicago United for Palestine, which organized the campus encampment, announced Al Arian’s participation in a Zoom meeting on their Instagram.

”Today, we will have the honour of being joined by Dr. Sami Al Arian, a former professor of computer engineering, prominent speaker and human rights activist and US political prisoner,” the group wrote. “Dr. Al Arian has since relocated to Turkey, where he is the Director of the Center for Islam and Global Affairs (CIGA) at Istanbul Zaim University.”

From The Geller Report:

If the Palestinian Arabs really wanted a state, they would have accepted one of the many offers that have been made to them to establish one, going back to 1948. What they really want to do is destroy Israel utterly, in accord with the succinct Qur’anic command: “Drive them out from where they drove you out” (2:191). It is actually a historical myth that the Israelis drove the Arabs out; the Arab Higher Committee told them to leave, but that fact has been obscured by decades of propaganda. Now, however, no less a luminary than Sami al-Arian, a former U.S. academic and darling of the Left, has revealed the truth: the goal of the Palestinian jihad is not a Palestinian state, but the demise of the Jewish state.

Speaking on Al Jazeera on July 30, al-Arian said: “In my view, the Palestinian cause is not about creating a state, like everybody says. It is not about a one-state solution or a two-state solution. The Palestinian cause has to do with the very presence of Zionism in the region. Therefore, our greatest strategic goal, in the meantime, we can take steps, but the greatest strategic goal is to dismantle the State of Israel, which means uprooting Zionism from Palestine.”

******

Al-Arian has been quite clear about his views for decades. In 1991, during a speech in Chicago, al-Arian screamed: “The Quran is our constitution. Jihad is our path … Victory to Islam… Death to Israel… Revolution… revolution till the victory.” Showing he hadn’t changed, in mid-December 2020, al-Arian spoke via Zoom at the Fourth International Conference on the Muslim Ummah. There al-Arian also called for “defeating and dismantling the Zionist project,” adding: “We cannot pursue an ummah project without actually attaining our real independence. We cannot attain our real independence without dealing with the problem of Israel….As long as Israel exists, the ummah will stay weak and fragmented, and disunited and divided and dependent and under control.”

Many have warned that the protests on college campuses have nefarious elements behind the scenes pushing their radical agenda.

Leaders have raised the alarm on who is lurking in the shadows of these protests, including New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

Adams has alleged that protests at Columbia University and City College of New York (CCNY) were infiltrated by “outside agitators” affiliated with “terrorist groups.”

In an interview with Vladimir Duthiers on CBS Morning, Adams detailed the city’s response to the chaotic scenes that unfolded at both institutions, where nearly 300 individuals were arrested Tuesday night.

“These were not spontaneous student movements but calculated disruptions by professional agitators,” Adams explained, noting that a significant portion of those arrested had no affiliations with either university.

Officials at Stanford University sent a picture of a protestor on their campus wearing a green headband, similar to what is worn by Hamas terrorists, to the FBI.

Those cheering on the anti-Israel protests include Hamas leaders and Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Leo Hohmann: Prominent Japanese Medical Professor Warns Against Taking ‘Self Replication Replicon’ Jab This Fall or Winter (Video)

Professor Masayasu Inoue at Osaka City University Medical School

This article originally appeared on Leo Hohmann’s Substack and was republished with permission.

The eminent Professor Masayasu Inoue at Osaka City University Medical School in Japan recently warned that the Japanese government became the first in the world to approve a new type of jab called the “self replication replicon vaccine” that is being rushed to market as we speak. The goal is to have it ready by this fall or winter.

In the video below, the professor, who specializes in molecular pathology, condemns the COVID “pandemic” as propagated by the U.N. World Health Organization, for the purpose of driving genetically modifying COVID jabs into the bodies of all peoples worldwide. He also condemned the U.S. “Warp Speed” project under then-President Donald Trump, which rushed mRNA toxic injections to market that were used to cover up problems with the gene-based shots. The false pretext of Warp Speed was “saving time.” The professor then states that the Japanese government’s rush to market of its new injection will be similar and must be avoided at all costs. We are seeing deception magnified in the world today like perhaps never before. Jesus warned this would be the case in Matthew 24 of the New Testament.

It’s not often such a prominent scientist goes public with a warning of this magnitude. Please share this important 8-minute video with all your loved ones.

Historic Drug Shortage Exacerbated by EPA Overreach

Hidrafil, Wikimedia Commons

This story originally was published by Real Clear Wire

By W. Caffey Norman
Real Clear Wire

Concerning new reports reveal that the drug shortage in the U.S. has reached its highest level since the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists began tracking data. In total, 323 medicines are now in short supply.

However, the problem is about to get worse because of government regulations on an entirely different issue. Counterintuitive measures from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are set to effectively ban the domestic production of chemicals that are used in the process of manufacturing vital prescription drugs and vaccines.

Shortly after Congress amended the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) in 2016, the EPA began the rulemaking process on 10 chemicals currently in use in the United States using a broad and overreaching definition of “unreasonable risk.” Now, the EPA is expected to release a final rule on methylene chloride under TSCA.

Methylene chloride has several applications, including in the process of manufacturing hundreds of medicines and vaccines like those that treat Hepatitis B and HIV infections, mental illnesses and epilepsy, heart failure and high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.

If this rule goes into effect, it will exacerbate the drug shortage by bringing domestic manufacturing to a halt while making our supply chains more reliant on foreign nations like China for pharmaceuticals. This runs in direct contradiction to the Biden administration’s “Investing in America” agenda, which aims to onshore supply chains critical to our economy and security.

For example, methylene chloride is used to make hollow fiber cartridges which are used in the manufacture of monoclonal antibodies and vaccines, including the COVID-19, HPV, Hepatitis B, and flu vaccines, as well as therapies for arthritis, migraines, osteoporosis, and autoimmune diseases. In a letter to the EPA, the company that produces these cartridges wrote their product is used in at least 190 human therapeutics and vaccines. Their supply is so essential that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Defense Department awarded the company funding to expand its manufacturing capacity here in the U.S.

While HHS and DoD give taxpayer money to this company to operate in the United States, the EPA is simultaneously regulating out of domestic existence the necessary ingredients for their products. Ultimately, the final EPA rule could “impact millions of patients worldwide.”

Another company warned the EPA ban “would disrupt the critical infrastructure of biotechnology, including medical uses such as vaccine manufacturing and industrial biotechnology.” While the EPA would argue that pharmaceutical usage is exempt from the rule, the upstream supply chain of products necessary to manufacture these medicines is not.

The biggest winner with this new EPA rule will be China, which has grown to be the largest chemical producer in the world and the top exporter of methylene chloride. In the last decade, the U.S. has imported 17% of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) from China. Even countries like India, which supplies approximately 40% of generic pharmaceuticals used in the U.S., rely heavily on China. According to a 2021 U.S. Department of Commerce report, India imports nearly 70% of its APIs from China. By effectively banning the domestic production of methylene chloride, the EPA ensures that even more of the drug supply chain is dependent on China.

Despite the Biden administration’s stated goal to reduce “reliance on high-risk foreign suppliers” for medicines, the EPA is actively stifling the domestic production of ingredients needed to manufacture life-saving drugs that Americans rely on. The administration must carefully reevaluate what’s at stake.

W. Caffey Norman is a senior partner at Squire Patton Boggs. He has represented and advised American chemistry producers and associations for years, particularly in connection with evolving EPA chemical regulations.

Keith Olbermann RAGES with Mob on Twitter Against Peggy Noonan's Columbia Column

Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan, who was once a Reagan speechwriter and is now a dyspeptic critic of Donald Trump, infuriated leftists on Twitter this weekend with a column about her visit to the Columbia University campus to observe the pro-Hamas protests and attempt to interview some young protesters.  Noonan wrote she understood the youthful passion to protest, but these protesters all wore masks and didn't want to engage with largely supportive media. She found this carried an air of menace...and cowardice. This was the passage that New York Times reporter Peter Baker passed around that fanned the fury:  I was at Columbia hours before the police came in and liberated Hamilton Hall from its occupiers. Unlike protesters of the past, who were usually eager to share with others what they thought and why, these demonstrators would generally not speak or make eye contact with members of the press, or, as they say, “corporate media.” I was on a bench taking notes as a group of young women, all in sunglasses, masks, and kaffiyehs, walked by. “Friends, please come say hello and tell me what you think,” I called. They marched past, not making eye contact, save one, a beautiful girl of about 20. “I’m not trained,” she said. Which is what they’re instructed to say to corporate-media representatives who will twist your words. “I’m barely trained, you’re safe,” I called, and she laughed and half-halted. But her friends gave her a look and she conformed. Raging kook Keith Olbermann, the man so unbalanced that he tweeted the Supreme Court majority that overturned Roe vs. Wade were "domestic terrorists," argued Baker and Noonan were not journalists: Is there a point at which Peter Baker and Peggy Noonan will understand that vast swaths of America do not recognize them as journalists? Hell, if I knew about the "I'm not trained" line I could've gotten Noonan off my back and off my shows in 2004 instead of 2006 https://t.co/2P2OvlX3rt — Keith Olbermann (@KeithOlbermann) May 4, 2024 The Left could certainly argue that college kids might be smart not to sit down with a journalist they don't know, and Noonan could be characterized as an establishment Republican, who wouldn't naturally love radical disorder. Noonan noted they were yelling “Israel bombs, Columbia pays! How many kids did you kill today?” Lefties were probably angrier at Noonan for suggesting that even liberals in Manhattan were pleased the cops shut this encampment down:  The Vietnam demonstrations came to a country at relative peace with itself and said: Wake up! The Hamas demonstrations come to a country that hasn’t been at peace with itself in a long time. It watched, and thought: More jarring hell from kids with blood in their eyes making demands. The people of my liberal-left town were relieved to see the NYPD come in, drag the protesters away, restore order, and let people clean things up.

Ugh: PBS Hails ‘Gender-Affirming Care’ Court Win for Minors, Including Mastectomy

The PBS NewsHour was back to its old rhetorical tricks this week on the LGBTQ front. Lately the outlet has been reacting with pro-transgender alarm when yet another state restricts transgender surgery for minors. But it had cause to celebrate on Tuesday, covering a “groundbreaking ruling” that somehow didn’t shake up the other media outlets enough to cover. PBS teamed up with its fellow taxpayer-funded outlet National Public Radio to bring the joyful news that a federal appellate court in Richmond had ruled that so-called “gender-affirming care” must be covered by state health care plans in West Virginia and North Carolina. They used that Orwellian term no less than ten times in the segment. including in the supportive introduction from host Amna Nawaz: “A federal appeals court issued a groundbreaking ruling last night ensuring that gender-affirming surgery is covered by state-run health insurance programs.” The entire exchange took place in a liberal bubble, with zero mention of conservative counterpoints -- no  inconvenient questions about gender transition, or how a biological man can become a woman, or if the government should be obligated to pay for such a change. NPR health reporter Selena Simmons-Duffin -- who provided a similar bubble of an interview to transgender Biden appointee Adm. Rachel Levine two years ago, that there was "no scientific debate" on these surgeries -- only cared about how the "trans community" greeted the news. Reporter Stephanie Sy explained: ...this decision centered around two lawsuits, with trans people in West Virginia and North Carolina suing to secure insurance coverage for gender-affirming care, such as hormone therapy and surgery." Sy crowed, "It is a win for the trans community, but it may not be the final word on the issue." Selena Simmons-Duffin, health-policy reporter, NPR: I think this is a really significant ruling. The Fourth Circuit's majority opinion was really strong and called discrimination against trans patients on these plans to be -- quote -- "obviously discriminatory." I think that the big takeaway is that insurers are not going to be able to say that they're going to cover this care for some patients with some diagnoses and not for others. If they're going to be covering things like sex hormones and mastectomies for some patients, they're going to have to cover it for trans patients as well. And I do think that it's really seen in the trans community as a major win, and it cuts against some of the trends of more litigation and more restrictions that we have seen in statehouses across the country. Sy: Selena, how far-reaching is this ruling? Does this mean trans people with state medical plans are now covered for gender-affirming care where they couldn't or where they weren't before? Simmons-Duffin explained that the ruling was a signal that “trans people are protected under the law,” as if they weren’t protected by law before. Both reporters ignored the traumatic effects of gender surgery (including hormone replacement theory and even chemical and physical castration) on children in their eagerness over the medical insurance decision, while continuing their happy talk about “gender-affirming care.” Sy: We have seen in the last few years some two dozen states pass restrictive laws on gender-affirming care specifically for minors. Does this decision, Selena, apply to minors covered by state medical plans, even in states where legislatures have banned care? Simmons-Duffin: ….it is important to differentiate this from some of the other cases around gender-affirming care for minors, because this is really about insurance coverage and whether insurers can make the distinction that they're going to cover hormones and mastectomies with certain conditions, but not for people with gender dysphoria. In this case, they said that's not going to fly and that needs to stop…. A transcript is available, click “Expand.” PBS NewsHour 4/30/24 7:13:54 p.m. (ET) Amna Nawaz: A federal appeals court issued a groundbreaking ruling last night ensuring that gender-affirming surgery is covered by state-run health insurance programs. Stephanie Sy has that report. Stephanie Sy: Amna, this decision centered around two lawsuits, with trans people in West Virginia and North Carolina suing to secure insurance coverage for gender-affirming care, such as hormone therapy and surgery. The federal appellate court in Richmond, split 8-6, ordered that the state health care plans — quote — "reinstate coverage for medically necessary services for the treatment of gender dysphoria." The American Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics wrote briefs in support of the trans plaintiffs. It is a win for the trans community, but it may not be the final word on the issue. For more on all of this, I'm joined by NPR's Selena Simmons-Duffin, who covers health policy for NPR. Selena, it's good to see you on the "NewsHour." So, as you know, there are numerous court cases around the country about transgender rights and access to gender-affirming care. How significant was this ruling, and what are the big takeaways to you? Selena Simmons-Duffin, NPR: I think this is a really significant ruling. The Fourth Circuit's majority opinion was really strong and called discrimination against trans patients on these plans to be — quote — "obviously discriminatory." I think that the big takeaway is that insurers are not going to be able to say that they're going to cover this care for some patients with some diagnoses and not for others. Stephanie Sy: Selena, how far-reaching is this ruling? Does this mean trans people with state medical plans are now covered for gender-affirming care where they couldn't or where they weren't before? Selena Simmons-Duffin: Well, actually, in both of these cases, the state plan in North Carolina and Medicaid's — Medicaid in West Virginia, they already had to start covering this care after the district court ruled in the plaintiff's favor in 2022. So people have been able to bill for this and get coverage for this in the last two years, but what the appellate ruling does is really solidify that coverage. And as I said, it also signals to other plans in other states around the country that this is care that needs to be covered and that trans people are protected under the law. Stephanie Sy: We have seen in the last few years some two dozen states pass restrictive laws on gender-affirming care specifically for minors. Does this decision, Selena, apply to minors covered by state medical plans, even in states where legislatures have banned care? Selena Simmons-Duffin: I should say that there were plaintiffs in these cases that were minors. So, for example, in North Carolina, there were some members of the plan who joined the case on behalf of their dependent minor child who was transgender. And so they were seeking coverage for the care of that child. But I think it is important to differentiate this from some of the other cases around gender-affirming care for minors, because this is really about insurance coverage and whether insurers can make the distinction that they're going to cover hormones and mastectomies with certain conditions, but not for people with gender dysphoria. In this case, they said that's not going to fly and that needs to stop. But one thing I also wanted to mention is that, in the realm of bans across the country in different states for gender-affirming care for youth, just today, in Kansas, the Statehouse was unable to override the veto of the governor who had vetoed the ban on gender-affirming care for youth in that state. So I think advocates are really hoping that this does — even beyond the realm of its actual reach, it does send a signal to different places, to governors, to statehouses to say, this isn't a winning issue and the courts are starting to fall in their favor, although it has been a mixed bag in the courts. Stephanie Sy: Yes, absolutely. In this particular case — and you quoted it — the majority wrote that, when it comes to the state's exclusion of gender-affirming care for medical plans — quote — "We hold that the coverage exclusions facially discriminate on the basis of sex and gender identity." It said the exclusions, in essence, violate the 14th Amendment and provisions in the Affordable Care Act. There are so many transgender rights issues mired in the courts right now. Selena, do you see the Supreme Court taking all this up any time soon? I know, in this case, West Virginia's attorney general has already said he is appealing. Selena Simmons-Duffin: Yes, I mean, court watchers and policy watchers that I have talked to really think that a case is going to reach the Supreme Court at some point, and probably soon. But the Supreme Court has been sending some mixed messages on this. So there was a gender-affirming caravan in Idaho that the Supreme Court allowed to take effect. But then there are other cases, including one from the Fourth Circuit that was related to transgender students participating in sports, that the Supreme Court declined to take. And that was a win for the transgender plaintiff in that case. Court watchers suggest that it seems like the Supreme Court is maybe reluctant to jump into the fray, but there has been so much litigation in this area and so many laws being passed that it just seems inevitable that the Supreme Court will have to weigh in and give some clarity.

Spitting on Graves? MSNBC Lets Dems Smear Tennessee GOP on Arming Teachers

Over the last few weeks as a bill made its way through the Republican-dominated Tennessee legislature to permit local areas to decide whether to let teachers concealed carry firearms to deter mass shooters, several MSNBC hosts found it "shocking" and brought on "The Tennessee Three," their favorite far-left Democrats from the state's House of Representatives -- Justin Jones, Justin Pearson, and Gloria Johnson -- to smear Republicans and push conspiracy theories. MSNBC host Ali Velshi claimed that the new law was "worse than doing nothing," and, on the April 28 edition of his eponymous weekend show, went along with State Representative Justin Jones's theory that Republicans hope arming teachers will scare parents away from sending their children to public schools. Velshi responded: "I don't want my kids going to a place where there's yet more guns in the school. I'd like zero guns in the schools." A bit after Jones declared that Republican Governor Bill Lee "has no conscience and no courage," weekend host Alex Witt concluded the segment on her April 27 show by gushing: "I'm really glad you were voted back in office." A few minutes earlier, among his substantial trashing of Republicans, Jones further declared: "the governor just spit on the face of all these people and spit on the graves of the six people killed by signing this law. Nothing to reign in gun violence like common sense gun laws that would expand universal background checks, ban assault weapons, red flag laws. Instead, he's putting a law to arm teachers -- something that no teachers want in our state." Stephanie Ruhle found the push to arm teachers "almost too much to believe," and Katie Phang labeled the move "really flawed and dangerous policies." MSNBC also allowed Democrat guests to claim that no one except pro-gun lobbyists asked for the new law. By contrast, CNN hosts at least had right-leaning guests on to explain why they support the move. CNN This Morning Weekend host Victor Blackwell had a surprisingly sober reaction on April 28 as he allowed CNN contributor and MRC alum Stephen Gutowski on as a guest so he could explain that some rural schools had difficulty finding qualified resource officers and wanted to open up the possibility of school staff stepping in to fill the void. A few weeks earlier, CNN weekday host Sara Sidner provocatively quoted left-wing protesters who chanted, "Kill the bill, not the kids" as they opposed guns in schools, and her voice cracked as she discussed the issue, but, unlike MSNBC, at least she did allow State Senator Paul Bailey (R) to appear as a guest. He recalled that the legislature had already supplied funding to hire more resource officers, but some schools had failed to find qualified candidates, making other options necessary: "We provided over $140 million to go directly to those school districts for them to be able to hire school resource officers. ... But the situation is there's not enough qualified individuals to be able to fill those positions." While some of the liberal guests invoked the Covenant school shooting that occurred in the state in 2023, it was not mentioned that that school was a gun-free zone or that nearly all mass shooters who target public places choose gun-free zones to make it less likely they will face resistance, thus pointing to a deterrence value of armed teachers. And while Democrat guests fretted that armed teachers would lead to more violence, MSNBC hosts ignored research finding that schools with armed teachers tend to be safer. Transcripts follow: CNN News Central April 10, 2024 8:02 a.m. Eastern JOHN BERMAN (in opening plug): Backlash in Tennessee after lawmakers pass a law that would allow teachers to carry concealed guns in their classrooms. (...) 8:42 p.m. SARA SIDNER (before commercial break): All right, up next, some teachers and parents up in arms over a bill in Tennessee that could allow teachers and staff members to carry a gun on school grounds. We'll talk to the bill's co-sponsor coming up. (...) 8:49 p.m. SIDNER: "Kill the bill, not the kids." That's what some parents and teachers are chanting about a bill in Tennessee that allows teachers and school staff to carry guns at school. The bill just passed by the senate -- state senate in a 26-5 vote, and now it goes to the house. It allows Tennessee teachers to carry concealed handguns in K-12 schools. The bill also puts the debate over arming educators right back in the spotlight. Currently, 34 states ban teachers and the general public from carrying guns onto public school property according to Every Town for Gun Safety. Let's discuss this now with Tennessee State Senator Paul Bailey. You are the sponsor of this bill. First of all, why do you think this will make schools safer for children and staff? (STATE SENATOR PAUL BAILEY (R-TN)) You know, you said the sheriff's association is sort of at the forefront of pushing this bill and influenced you certainly -- we saw what happened in Uvalde, though, with people who are trained with weapons -- police officers who did not respond in a quick matter. What makes you think that teachers  under this kind of stress would be able to handle this with all that they already have to do? (BAILEY) All right, I want to play for you what Lauren Shipman-Dorrance has to say about the bill. She is a teacher in Nashville. Here's what she said. LAUREN SHIPMAN-DORRANCE, NASHVILLE TEACHER: I really thought the lieutenant governor would listen to the voice of the people. You know, we know overwhelmingly so many Tennesseeans do not support legislation like this. I don't know if I'd feel safe to stay in a teaching role, to be honest with you. SIDNER: There is already a shortage of teachers. What do you say to her, that she doesn't think she'll feel safe with other folks, staff members, potentially other teachers, walking around armed in a school? (BAILEY) I'm curious if any of the schools talked to you about this and asked for this? (BAILEY) So, sir, why not -- why not pass legislation -- why not pass legislation to fund more school resource officers instead of putting this on the teachers or the staff members there who, as you know, are overtaxed? They have to do so many things in classrooms now from being counselors to teaching, you know, math and science and English. Why not just say, "Okay, let's -- let's fund the resource officers who are trained"? STATE SENATOR BAILEY: Well, I'm glad you brought that up because we had a special session last year and dealt with that. We provided over $140 million to go directly to those school districts for them to be able to hire school resource officers. And, as of just the beginning of this legislative session at the end of January, $98 million of that had been drawn down into those local school districts for them to be able to provide SRO officers. But the situation is there's not enough qualified individuals to be able to fill those positions. I'm also carrying legislation that would allow any retired law enforcement officer that would like to go back for at least two years and be a school resource officer to be able to do so without losing their retirement benefits. So we've been working in many ways to try to make sure that our schools are as safe as possible here in Tennessee. SIDNER: State Senator Paul Bailey, thank you so much for coming on and asking -- and answering the questions. Appreciate it. (...) MSNBC's The 11th Hour April 11, 2024 11:24 p.m. Eastern STEPHANIE RUHLE: Meanwhile, this week, the Tennessee State Senate advanced a bill there to arm their teachers and school staff in the face of local protests. If passed, the move would mark one of the state's biggest expansions of gun access since the deadly Covenant school shooting that took place in Nashville last year. Here to discuss, Tennessee State Representative Justin Jones. You know him as one of the Tennessee Three. He was reinstated to his position one year ago yesterday after he was peacefully protesting gun violence. And Rachel Wegner joins us -- a children's reporter at The Tennessean and USA Today network. Rachel, what should we know about this bill? Because it's almost too much to believe. (WEGNER) But once they do that, a teacher could have a gun on their belt while teaching the third grade? WEGNER: Yeah, and another thing that has raised a lot of concerns is that they won't need to disclose which staff members are carrying weapons in the schools to teachers, parents, and possibly even other teachers around them. RUHLE: Representative Jones, what is your reaction to this? What are people in your district telling you? STATE REPRESENTATIVE JUSTIN JONES (D-TN): I mean, so many people are outraged, you know. The Tennessee Republican supermajority continues to hold our state at gunpoint and put more guns on our streets, and now they're trying to force guns into our classrooms. I think the most asinine thing about this, Stephanie, is that we live in a state where we've passed laws saying we don't trust teachers to pick the books in their classrooms. We don't trust teachers to pick their own curriculum about history. But now we want to say we want teachers to carry guns in our schools when every parent we saw show up in our committees, said, "Please don't do this -- more guns are not the solution, and they'll make out children and our schools more unsafe." RUHLE: We don't even provide those teachers with the school supplies they need to do their jobs. Rachel, what are parents and teachers saying about this? WEGNER: So I would say fairly wide outcry against the passage of the bill now in our state senate has been rolling this week. It is yet to be taken up by our house, but, as we've got into that potential hearing, lots of folks are planning to continue their protests and speaking out against this over their concerns for all the ways things could go wrong. Supporters of the bill have, you know, a different viewpoint on that, but teachers, parents, students, I've almost unanimously heard them say they're opposed to it, and they're worried about what it means. RUHLE: Representative, what do you say to people who argue, "Well, schools have the option to opt out." Is that good enough? (...) JONES: And so what we're hearing in our state is people saying that our legislature is morally insane. We have a Republican supermajority that has just lost their mind and, you know, passing laws just last week to honor the Tennessee Rifle the same week that we are recognizing the Covenant tragedy here in our state -- a mass shooting that took the lives of three nine-year-olds and three adults, and, you know, we're going to honor a gun? And the only law that we passed after the Covenant mass shooting was to protect firearms manufacturers. So what we're seeing is a Republican supermajority that is beholden to the gun industry -- that is beholden to gun extremists -- that is beholden to the NRA, and that is not listening to the people of Tennessee. (...) MSNBC's The Last Word April 12, 2024 10:37 a.m. Eastern STATE SENATOR LONDON LAMAR (D-TN): This is irresponsible! The public school teachers don't even want the bill! They're not even asking you for this! We just passed legislation to have SROs in every school -- can we see if that works yet?! I'm upset not out of -- because I don't like you all individually -- because I'm mad because this bill puts my child at risk and all the mothers I hear that just got put out! They're saying their children at risk! Look at that gallery! They're asking you not to do this! (editing jump) Put partisan politics aside -- I ask you this all the time, but this bill is dangerous. Don't do it. (editing jump) Teachers don't want it, the school districts don't want it, nobody doesn't want it, it's not going to work! It's going to cause more school shootings. (editing jump) What happened today is a gallery full of mothers who are concerned, and we put them out because you're trying to put guns in teachers' hands! We ought to be ashamed, Mr. Speaker. KATIE PHANG: That was the scene in the Tennessee Senate this week. State Senator London Lamar with her eight-month-old baby and a microphone in her hands begging Republicans not to vote to put more guns in schools. Yes, more guns, not less. This week, Republican lawmakers in Tennessee advanced legislation that would allow some teachers to carry concealed guns. Last April, just days after three children and three staff members were killed in a mass shooting at the Covenant school in Nashville, Donald Trump gave a speech pushing for armed teachers. And so a year later Tennessee Republicans have decided that their solution to gun violence in schools is more guns in schools. (...) Representative Pearson, I know that you're familiar with the being silenced when you're trying to speak out in that hall, but what is the justification that is coming from your colleagues on the other side of the aisle to vote on a bill and approve it that is not wanted by anyone? It's been tried before in some other counties in Tennessee -- hasn't worked -- and I understand there's an opt out in this legislation, but -- and I understand maybe that the voices in support of this say, "Well, there's training, and there's, you know, a certain component of it, but how is it possible that they're so tone deaf about what's really wanted to protect the children in these schools? STATE REPRESENATATIVE JUSTIN J. PEARSON (D-TN): This is a dangerous piece of legislation that puts at risk every child in our schools, including putting our teachers at risk as well. You don't have a single teacher in our district or in this state who are asking the legislature to pass this type of legislation. And they certainly aren't asking for us to do it by kicking out mothers from the galleries and those who are advocating on behalf of their kids in the process. What we are seeing is the cowardice of the Republican party in our state, refusing to address the epidemic of gun violence, which is the number one killer of our children, and instead of ending the epidemic by doing something about the guns that are being proliferated in our communities and doing something that would stand up to the National Rifle Association and the Tennessee Firearms Association, and they're attacking parents, and they're actually making our schools less safe. They're bringing guns into gun-free zones, and this is only going to have horrendous ramifications for children who will access these weapons and these guns -- for teachers who might accidentally shoot or harm their students. These are the real challenges that are going to come from this terrible legislation. (...) PHANG: I want to harp on this for our viewers to understand. Mothers like Beth Gebhard who talk about this experience, they're being silenced. These are not politicians, right? These are not -- these are not lobbyists for anti-gun or anti-2nd Amendment kind of propositions, These are parents that only want to keep their kids safe. And yet they're being silenced. They're being removed from a public forum because they just want to share their concerns about really flawed and dangerous policies and legislation that's getting passed in your state? STATE REPRESENTATIVE PEARSON: This is the way that the Tennessee Republican party works. They silence the voices of dissent in order that they can corrupt, be corrupt and use their power and corrupted absolutely using it. And they wield it against anybody that they believe is going to stand up against them. This is why Representative Jones and I were expelled. This is why the mothers are consistently being kicked out of the gallery and kicked out of committee rooms even during our special session to address public safety. They're not interested in the safety of our kids -- they're not interested in the safety of our teachers. They do not want to end the gun violence epidemic -- they only want to proliferate it with bad policies and legislation that is supported by the Tennessee Firearms Association and supported by the National Rifle Association. They are not interested in making our communities safer (...) MSNBC's The Last Word April 26, 2024 10:43 p.m. Eastern ALI VELSHI: That was the scene at the Tennessee house chamber this week after Republican lawmakers passed a bill that would allow some teachers to carry concealed guns. There were vocal protests inside the gallery against putting more guns in schools. State troopers once again removed folks for protesting. Inside the chamber, Democratic legislators pleaded with their colleagues not to pass the bill. They argued that in the year since the Nashville Covenant mass shooting, more should have been accomplished by this legislative body. (...) Joining us now is the Tennessee Democratic State Representative, Justin J. Pearson. ... The country came to know you because of the stand that you and some of your colleagues in the legislature took about having government take a stronger hand in trying to deal with the disasters that you faced in Tennessee -- the disaster that repeats itself across this country -- and yet here we are today. STATE REPRESENTATIVE JUSTIN J. PEARSON (D-TN): Yeah, I mean, the gun violence epidemic in our state is the leading cause of death for our children. We have a responsibility and an obligation to do everything possible to actually make our schools and our communities safer, and the Republican party of Tennessee led by Cameron Sexton and William Lamberth refuse to do that. Unfortunately, they view arming teachers, increasing the amount of gun violence in schools and in our communities as some form of a solution. No one would have ever imagined that after we experienced the tragedy that we did in the wake of the Covenant shooting, nor the hundreds of lives that we've lost due to gun violence just a year ago where 500 people in our state, that our resolution would be: "Let's try and increase the probability of having more gun violence." We didn't pass any red flag laws or extreme risk protection orders. We haven't addressed anything as relates to gun safety storage, and this is the signature piece of legislation the Republicans have pushed, which is antithetical to anything that anyone in the state of Tennessee that I talked to have wanted to see or for us to get to make our communities safer. VELSHI: I'm curious as to how it even came to be because if you were going to just not bother, then just don't bother. This seems to be possibly one worse than not bothering. (...) MSNBC's The Katie Phang Show April 27, 2024 12:33 p.m. Eastern KATIE PHANG: So another important issue I know is very near and dear to you is gun violence and the prevention of it. It's also something that's been a very important part of my ability to use my platform to spread awareness. In Tennessee, as you know, passing a law that now allows teachers in schools to have concealed firearms. The Republicans there saying that it's for school safety and to improve the safety of students in schools. What are your thoughts, Congressman, about the fact that Tennessee now allows this? CONGRESSMAN MAXWELL ALEJANDRO FROST (D-FL): Well, this is people legislating without looking at the facts and without looking at data and just simply doing the bidding of the gun lobby, which seeks to pass legislation that will sell more guns. That's all the gun lobby and the NRA cares about -- selling more guns to teachers, to kids, whoever. And so, unfortunately, they're not looking at the data that shows us that when there's more guns in the equation, guess what. It doesn't make you safer -- it makes you less safe. Not just that, but our teachers are already drastically underpaid, especially in the South. We already have a huge teacher shortage, and, on top of that, to add insult to injury, you want to add to the job description: "Carry a firearm and protect your students that way"? Come on, give me a damn break. So this is just politicians doing the bidding of the NRA and not actually doing what we need to do to save lives and keep people safe. And we're so happy and lucky we have great progressive advocates like Justin Jones, Justin Pearson, Gloria Johnson -- they are fighting in Tennessee. But it just goes to show that this fight in the South is real, but we're not doing it alone. (...) MSNBC's Alex Witt Reports April 27, 2024 3:49 p.m. ALEX WITT: Starting now in Tennessee, teachers and other school administrators are now officially allowed to carry concealed handguns on school grounds. Governor Bill Lee signing the bill one year after six people were killed, including three children, when a gunman opened fire at a private Christian school in Nashville. Joining me now is Democratic State Representative Justin Jones, who was expelled from the state house after joining a protest supporting gun reform in the wake of that shooting. He was then voted back in back to office in a special election. Welcome, Justin, I'm glad to have you here. Um, look, there was significant tension as this bill was approved, and I know you were banned from speaking on that floor for two days, and you say you were physically shoved by one of your Republican colleagues. It stemmed from you filming these chants from the gallery. Let's play this up. (clip of protesters in capitol chanting, "Blood on your hands") What happened there? STATE REPRESENTATIVE JUSTIN JONES (D-TN): Yes, well, Alex, it is a terrible time in Tennessee because the governor has signed this horrific law that's going to allow teachers to carry guns. This is the largest expansion of gun laws in our state since the mass shooting at Covenant, and in that gallery, you see my constituents. You see mothers, you see grandmothers, and parents and teachers and students telling my Republican colleagues that they will have blood on their hands. For over a year now, Tennesseans have been showing up to our capital week after week, begging for common sense gun laws, and the governor just spit on the face of all these people and spit on the graves of the six people killed by signing this law. Nothing to reign in gun violence like common sense gun laws that would expand universal background checks, ban assault weapons, red flag laws. Instead, he's putting a law to arm teachers -- something that no teachers want in our state. WITT: Wow. STATE REPRESENTATIVE: JONES: And it's an insult to Tennesseans. WITT: Justin, I want to talk about the bill specifically because, as we understand it, a staff member would have to complete 40 hours of training, get a background check and a psychological evaluation. They would then also need the approval of school officials and local law enforcement. But, to your point, parents would not be notified because of confidentiality, meaning parents won't have any idea at all if their child's teacher has a gun in the classroom. So here's the question: Would teachers with guns have made a difference in the Covenant school shooting when the killer had an AR-15 assault rifle and a pistol caliber carbine with 30 rounds in it? STATE REPRESENTATIVE JONES: I mean, that is the insanity, Alex, is that, "What is one handgun going to do against a military grade assault weapon? Nothing. The Covenant school had armed security. I mean, you saw in Uvalde officers were afraid to go in a building with these assault weapons. So this is just a false solution. And really what it's about -- it's about this idea of trying to proliferate guns in our state. The number one cause of death for children right now is gun violence, and so it's about proliferating guns and not doing anything to reign in the issue of this uniquely American problem of gun violence. WITT: Let me ask you this in regards to that. Is this putting too much responsibility on teachers? If, let's say, they are paralyzed by fear during a school shooting and they can't shoot, or they accidentally shoot a student or anybody else, could they be blamed for what happens? STATE REPRESENTATIVE JONES: That's the point we got no clarity about, is who has liability. They refuse to answer that because the real liability is on the governor and my Republican colleagues, and let me just -- I want to say this, too, that this is really also about -- I've been thinking about this in my head about trying to make parents afraid to send their kids to public schools because so many parents I've talked to in my district have emailed me in my office saying, "We don't know if we can send our kids to schools anymore because we're scared." And it's really about this idea of trying to destroy public education, which the governor has been trying to do, and in pushing guns in our communities. And now they're in tandem. And so teachers are not asking for this -- they're asking for more supplies -- they're asking for psychologists and counselors, better pay. No teachers in Tennessee are asking to have this law to allow them to carry guns. It's insanity, and it's morally inexcusable. WITT: And -- and Governor Lee, couldn't he have allowed the bill to become law even without his signature. I mean, the fact that he signed it -- he wanted to put his name on this bill -- what does it tell you? STATE REPRESENTATIVE JONES: I mean, it tell us that our governor has no conscience and no courage. He lost a friend in the Covenant mass shooting -- one of his wife's friends -- and he told us he was going to do something to, you know, to reign in gun violence, and he's failed Tennesseans -- he's bowed down to the extremists. And he's really about arming these extreme elements in our community because not only are we talking about arming teachers, but the governor has allowed the Proud Boys to come to our capitol armed -- they've allowed neo-Nazis to march three blocks away from the capitol where I am right now to march armed. And it's about arming these extreme elements in our community that are leaving us with trauma and terror. And it's at the expense of our children's lives, so he should be ashamed of himself, and it is a dereliction of duty and a dereliction of his oath of office that each of us take as elected officials on Tennessee. WITT: Democratic State Representative Justin Jones, let's just put it this way. I'm really glad you were voted back in office. Thank you so much for our conversation. (...) CNN This Morning Weekend April 28, 2024 7:37 a.m. Eastern VICTOR BLACKWELL: What informs the decision for arming the teachers instead of hiring more law enforcement to patrol these schools? STEPHEN GUTOWSKI, CNN FIREARMS ANALYST: Well, I think there's two reasons that advocates go this path. One is that it is actually quite difficult to get enough school resource officers to fill every school on a consistent basis, especially in more rural areas. And the second is that advocates of armed teachers believe that having several people armed in a school will increase the reaction time in case there is some sort of shooting. So those tend to be the main selling points. (...)  MSNBC's Velshi April 28, 2024 10:40 a.m. ALI VELSHI: Despite resounding pushback from parents and Democratic lawmakers in Tennessee, on Friday the Republican governor, Bill Lee, signed a shocking bill into law that gives counties the ability to decide whether some educators can legally carry guns in public schools. Republicans in the state house and senate pushed this bill through, claiming that it would reduce gun violence in schools and bolster safety. (...) Under the new legislation, some faculty and staff will be able to carry concealed handguns on school grounds but first need to complete 40 hours of training and pass criminal and mental health background checks. But Democrats have continually argued that the state would better served by, among other measures, employing background checks and requiring safe storage of firearms. As legislative debate ensued, leading up to the passage and signing of the bill, Democrats in the house signed off. (clips of Democrat legislators complaining about the bill) You'll probably remember the two people whom you just saw -- they are the Tennessee state representatives Justin Jones and Gloria Johnson. Two of them -- along with Representative Justin J. Pearson whom I spoke to on Friday night -- became the faces of the anti-gun movement in the state last year following the shooting at Nashville's Covenant school. Three children and three adults were killed in that attack. In the wake of the shooting, the Tennessee Three -- as these three have come to be called -- joined thousands in protest of the state's gun laws on the state's house floor. The decision to fight back -- small acts of courage -- were not met without consequence. Both Jones and Pearson --= who are black -- were booted from the Republican-controlled state house for their actions. Meanwhile, Johnson -- who is white -- dodged expulsion by one vote. However, both men returned to their seats last fall after their local governments voted to reinstate them. In light of the passage of this new gun law, it's abundantly clear that the Tennessee Three's fight for more sensible gun laws is far from over. On the other side of the break, both Justin Jones and Gloria Johnson join me to explain why this new law threatens the safety of classrooms in Tennessee. (...) Friends, thank you for being with us this morning and for your continued fight for the safety of our students and our citizens. Representative Jones, you posted on X that (Tennessee) House Speaker Cameron Sexton is growing "drunk with power" and that we are, quote, "witnessing the death of democracy in light of what happened with this vote. Talk to me about what you see happening here. Your state surprised me again in that there were lots of options between doing nothing and doing something, and they seem to have skipped through all of the more productive possibilities and went for the fairly absurd one. STATE REPRESENTATIVE JUSTIN JONES (D-TN): Yes, Ali, well, this is a very sad time for Tennessee. The trauma of our community is once again coming to the surface because at the end of the session my Republican colleagues decided to push forward and push through this asinine, insane bill to arm teachers as the gallery was full of Tennesseans -- teachers, mothers, students, clergy -- begging them not to, including families whose children are at the Covenant school, including families who have lost loved ones in shootings here in Nashville. And rather than hear them, Republicans pushed this bill forward by cutting off debate and then having the gallery cleared of the public and media when the people in the gallery chanted, "Shame on you," and that "there's blood on your hands." They had me censured for recording my constituents being drug out the gallery by state troopers. And so I said online that this is fascism -- this is a step against democracy -- against -- and toward authoritarianism and toward this, no, just shameful trajectory of arming our schools more and more -- putting more guns in schools -- when people have been begging for a year for common sense gun laws that protect kids and not guns. And the governor, by signing that bill, has spit in the face of these families.  He is a coward, and he is somebody who is going to be on the wrong side of history here in Tennessee. (...) STATE REPRESENTATIVE GLORIA JOHNSON (D-TN): ...And they need to start listening to teachers, and I can tell you that teachers did not come to them with the legislation. Every major county has already said, "No, since this is permissive, we are not arming teachers." They've already said no. No one asked them for this bill. VELSHI: Yeah. Somebody -- (cross talk) -- the question is, no one or is it lobbies that continue to cause these legislators to do things that are completely not in the interests of -- don't have the support of their voters. (...) STATE REPRESENTATIVE JONES: What I think this is really about is that the governor is mad that his privatization of public schools bill failed this session, and so this is a way to further undermine education. So I want to connect the dots between this proliferation of guns and their attack on public schools. Because what we're hearing is that people are afraid to send their kids to schools. So what was the thing they did after the voucher bill died to try and privatize our schools? The coward Ryan Williams -- my colleague from Cookeville -- said we're going to push through this bill to arm teachers, and now parents are scared to send their kids -- VELSHI: Yeah, up. STATE REPRESENTATIVE JONES: -- to public schools. That's really what the goal is, I think, Ali. I really -- VELSHI: Yeah. STATE REPRESENTATIVE JONES: -- think that's the purpose of this legislation. VELSHI: I don't want my kids going to a place where there's yet more guns in the school. I'd like zero guns in the schools. Thanks to both of you. It is remarkable what you have both done and your other colleagues have done for democracy and for standing up for it. When they tell me, "You know, there's not enough younger people getting involved in politics and it's all -- it's all corporatized," and all that, I point to you Tennessee Three to remind people that there are a lot of people fighting the battle right out there all the time, and we should be proud of that. Thank you.
